Covid-19 precautions

All players, team captains, and clubs have a duty of care for players. The league has adopted policies which should be followed by all in the chess community affiliated to Worcestershire Chess Association. Before their first matches, all should read the WCA policy and HMG guidance.

Special League Competition Rules for 2021-2 season

  1. all registered players would be eligible to play in Division 1;
  2. all registered players would be eligible to play on board 1 in Division 2, with the remaining 3 players having ratings below 1850; where no current rating is available, reference to a previous grade will apply; clubs must use their best endeavours in allocating unrated/ungraded players to Divisions;
  3. the rate of play would be all moves in 50 minutes, with 20-second increments from move 1;
  4. if there were a double round of fixtures, the away team would have the white pieces on the odd-numbered boards;
  5. if there were a single round of fixtures, teams would toss a coin for choice of colours;
  6. match points would be awarded as 2 for a win, 1 for a draw;
  7. in the event of a tie on points at the end of the season, game points will be used as a tie-breaker;
  8. any notice of postponement of a match must be received by the opposing captain at least 48 hours prior to the start time;
  9. all matches must be completed and reported by 31st May, 2022.

Registration of Teams and Players

  1. clubs must notify the Competition Secretary of the number of teams they wish to enter, and in which Division(s), by 21st September;
  2. clubs must supply the Competition Secretary with a list of players to be registered, together with their current rating, by 28th September;
  3. there would be no entry fee for the competition.

In all matters of doubt, the Competition Secretary's ruling shall be final
