Worcestershire beaten in final for Midlands team Championshgip

1899-1900

May 1900. Warwickshire won the MCCA team championship for the first time, previous winners being Leicestershire in 1898 and Worcestershire in 1899. The replay match fo the Midlands team championship was at the Talbot Hotel, Stourbridge. At the end of the playing session nfour games were not yet decided and two results on boards 3 and 12 were agreed at the venue. Two games on boards 1 and 4 were sent for adjudication and both were declared wins for Warwickshire.

April 1900. It was reported that the results of the two adjudicated games of the first Worcestershire Warwickshire match were: Bd 5 Stallman ½-½ Davies; and Bd 9 Aldritt 0-1 AT Griffiths (Malvern). These results draw the match. A replay was later held in Stourbridge (see above). Reported by Berrows Worcestershire Journal on 14 April 1900.

 

March 1900. The two teams met at Wellington, Shrops and Worcestershire won 8-5. Reported in Berrows Worcestershire Journal on 3 March 1900
