2012-3 Season Correspondence ChessPublished 20 May 2014 and supplemented 22 June 2020 |
There was no competition in 2011/2, the first time since 1922. The British Federation for Correspondence Chess took over the running of the County & District Coresspondence Chess competitions from ECF and re-organised them into three sections. In Division 1 teams of ten players compete for the Ward-Higgs trophy. In Divison 2 teams of eight players compete for the Sinclair trophy. Divisions 1 and 2 were played by web-server. Division 3 was played by post by teams of 8 players for the the Butler Thomas trophy. In all competitions, players had two games with colours reversed against the same opponent, which many consider to be an improvement on the former practice of a single game only. This tournament is Division 1 of the English Counties team tournament organised by Neil Limbert of the British Federation for Correspondence Chess. It was played over 10 boards using the International Correspondence Chess Server. Team members played two games - one with the white and one with the black pieces against the same opponent. Play began on 1 November 2012 and the event finished on 31 August 2013. The only bright point for Worcestershire was Jim Friar’s wins in the Ward Higgs. The team was relgated to the Sinclair tournament for 2013-4. Moves of all games are available from the ICCF webpage in the links associated with game results.
Play began on 1 November 2012 and the event finished on 31 August 2013. Arnold Kirkland's win in the Sinclair tournament was one of few county wins. Worcestershire were placed 8th.
