Season 9 January to May 2024 in Divisions 4 and 5

30 Apr 2024. Worcestershire Wolfpack A team are Division 4 champions. The A team had a hard time with Worcestershire Wolfpack B. The underdogs seemed to be confirming their reputation when Stephen Woodhouse (Longbridge) won in quick time on board 3. Then, in a shock result, youngster Samuel Thomas (Worcester) of the B team won his game on board 4 to even the score. The remaining two games were looking good for the A team on board 2 and the board 1 game was a complex, double-edged middlegame resulting from a Sicilian Defence, Yugoslav Attack. Gavin Cartwright (Longbridge) increased his dominance on board 2 and won, while Board 1 remained double-edged, but in the A team’s favour until a mis-step allowed B team’s Matthew Jordan (Malvern) to unleash a mating attack. The final score was 2-2, the board count was 5-5, but the second tie-break - elimination of the lowest board - game the A team its victory. Both A and B teams get promotion to Division 3 for the next season that starts on 10 September. 23 April 2024. Both A and B teams won their semi-final matches and there will be an all-Worcestershire final for the 4NCL Division 4 Championship on 30 April.

16 Apr 2024. Team A completed their campaign by again winning - handsomely beating Dundee City F 4-0. The team finished 3 points clear of runners-up Atticus having won every match. Team B drew against Bromley and finsihed two points clear of Charlton Cobras C. The Cadets team lost to Bishop Blunders and finished in 16th position out of 33 teams in Division 5. The A and B teams will play in different semi-finals on 23 April with team A playing Charlton Cobras and Team B playing Atticus.

2 Apr 2024. Both A and B teams increased their leads in their Division 4 groups. Team A is 4 match points clear of rivals Cozy Tomatoes and Atticus, both of whom were defeated in earlier rounds. Team B stands 4 match points clear of Charlton Cobras C who wre defeated in round 5. The Cadets team is placed thirteenth in Division 5 and although in the promotion zone unlikely to finish in the top four.
