County matches 2015-6 season

Summary

There was a good start to the season with the first team’s win against Warwickshire, but its teams had to wain until February for a second win - the under-140 team’s only win of the season - against Lincolnshire. After a poor season, none of the teams scored enough to get into the national finals.

Worcestershire beat old rivals in first match, but fail to follow through

5 Sep. There was a diminished field with five teams competing.

11 Oct. Worcestershire beat Warwickshire in the first Minor Counties’ fixture.

21 Nov. Worcestershire lost narrowly to Leicestershire.

27 Feb. Nottinghamshire beat Worcestershire in a close match to take the Midlands title.

6 Feb. Lincolnshire gain their first win, against Warwickshire, setting up a close tussle with Worcestershire for third national place.

5 Mar. Worcestershire lost narrowly to Lincolnshire and missed out on a place in the national finals.

Worcestershire under-140 team finish third

1 Sep. This year four teams entered compared with only three last year. Worcestershire competed with Nottinghamshire, last year’s winners, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Warwickshire.

12 Dec. The Nottinghamshire-Worcestershire match was postponed at short notice by kind permission of Nottinghamshire and the fixture was re-scheduled for 6 February.

23 Jan. Worcs mustered a team for their first u140 outing for three year, but went down to leaders Derbyshire.

6 Feb. Worcestershire lost to Nottinghamshire at Olton, Birmingham.

20 Feb. Worcestershire picked up their first match points with a win over Lincolnshire, but Derbyshire also won to take the Midlands nomination for a place in the national finals.

5 Dec. Worcestershire lost to Lincolnshire, a team with noticeably stronger players on the lower boards.

13 Feb. Worcestershire lost to front-runners Nottinghamshire, the current Midlands under-140 Champions.

27 Feb. Worcestershire lost heavily to Warwickshire..

5 Mar. Worcestershire lost to Staffordshire ending the season without match points.
