  • Sat 20 Apr 2024. Cannock & Dist CL25th Anniversary Rapidplay at Rycroft Community Hub, New Forest Road, Walsall WS3 1TR. Open, Major (u1750) and Minor tournaments (u1500), six rounds starting at 10am, time control 20 min +20 sec.
  • 26-28 Apr 2024. Bristol Chess Congress at Bristol Grammar School, University Road, Bristol BS8 1SR. Open (FIDÉ rated), Boniface (u1900), and Foundation (u1600) tournaments, time control 90 min + 30 sec, half-pont byes available in rounds 1-4.
  • Sat-Mon, 25-27 May 2024. Cotswold Congress at The King’s School Gloucester.

2 Mar 2024. With sadnness I report the death of Joyce Evans for many years captain of Halesowen’s Division three team after a long period of ill-health. The funeral will be held at Stourbridge Crematorium, 11am on Tuesday 26 March.
20 Dec 2023. At the end of the calendar year, Oscott lead in Division 2 with Kidderminster and Kynoch just behind. In Division 3, Mutual Circle lead, but they have played two games more than Stourbridge and Kidderminster who share second place.
26 Nov 2023. Two league players competed in the five-round Birmingham Congress Minor tournament. Muhammed Mehmood (Mercia) scored 3½ and Peter Hughes (Mutual Circle) scored 3 points.
8 Nov 2023. All Division 3 teams have now played at lest one fixture and Kidderminster are in the lead.
5 Oct 2023. The first match in the DDCL 2023-4 season led to a 4-0 win for Mutual Circle in Division 3.
22 Sep 2023, Steve Crees reports. David Pugh (Longbridge). With great sadness, the death is reported of David Pugh, President Longbridge CC. David had been president of both Greenlands and then Longbridge CC. Steve has written a tribute to David on the Longbridge CC website.
15 Aug 2023, John Fahy reports. Halesowen and Mutual Circle clubs have returned to the league taking the number of clubs to 11. It is anticipated that 14 teams will compete. The ratings bands for the three divisions remain the same as last year: Division 1,Max 2000; Division 2, Max 1800 and Division 3 Max 1600 and the ruling rating list to be used for the season is September 2023. Two teams entered Division 1, six entered Division 2, and six in Division 3. In the lower divisions teams will play each other twice, home and away. Division 1 will play 2 or 4 matches. The meeting agreed minor changes to the rules: Matches can start between 7pm and 7:30pm; incremental time control should be used in preference to a guillotine finish. See 2023-4 season rules.
